The 32 duties that are obligated for a Muslim > IMAAN

In Islam there are 32 duties that a muslim is obligated to do or to believe. These duties are divided in different kind of segments like Imaan, the 5 pillars of islaam and Prayers. Inshallah in the coming days each of the segments will be described and discussed. In this blog post the Imaan is described:

What is Imaan?

Imaan (Faith): To accept everything that the holy Prophet (PBOH) of Allah (SWT) has given us with your heart  and say that, that is what you believe.

The mandatory elements of Imaan:

There are six elements of Imaan that are mandatory for muslims to  believe:

• 1)      In the existence of Allah (SWT) and that he is the only one;
• 2)      In the angels of Allah (SWT);
• 3)      In the books sent by Allah (SWT);
• 4)      In the Prophets of Allah (SWT);
• 5)      In life after death, the hell and the paradise. That people will rise from their death and that Kayamat will come;
• 6)      That all things, good and bad, are the will of Allah (SWT).

What is Belief in Allah (SWT)?

The Belief in Allah (SWT) is that you should believe that Allah (SWT) is the Sole Creator, Sustainer, Provider and the One in Whose Hand is the disposal of all affairs.  Everything stands in need of Him, but He stands in need of none.  He is the Only One Who is worthy of being worshipped.  He has the Best Names and Perfect Attributes.

Who are the Angels?

The Angels are the creatures of light.  They are Allah's obedient slaves, they do that which Allah (Swt) commanded them to do and are not able to be disobedient. 

 

What do you mean by belief in the books? 
The Islamic holy books are the records which most Muslims believe were dictated by God to various Islamic prophets. They include the Tawrat (Torah), the Zabur (commonly the Psalms), the Injil (the original Gospel of Jesus), and the Qur'an.

What do you mean by belief in Prophets?

It means that Allah (SWT) sent the Messengers like Musa (Moses), Isa (Jesus), Ibrahim (Abraham), Nuh (Noah), etc. (peace be upon them all) and sent down the books like the Torah, Injeel (Gospel), Zaboor (Psalms), etc. to call the people to worship Allah (SWT) Alone, associating nothing with Him.  He sealed (finalized) the Messengers with Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

On today's blog some questions and answers about Islaam, these are common questions that still learn us of what we are (humans) and that we are created by Allah (swt) and are nothing without his will! So always say Alhumdulliah in every aspect of life!

Q1: Who is your God?:

A1: Allah (swt)

Q2: What does God mean?:

A2: It means that He who is adored, because He possesses everything and he controls the whole universe.

Q3: Who has created you?:

A3: Allah (swt) has created me.

Q4: What does Allah (swt) mean?:

A4: There is nothing like him, he is not born and he does not give birth. He is the Creator of the universe and anything and everything belongs to him. Allah is the name of the high and holy Creator.

Q5: Who’s servant are you?

A5: I am the servant of Allah (swt)

Q6: Where do we come from and where are we going?

A6: We come from Allah (swt) and we will return to Allah (swt)

Q7: Why are we created?

A7: We are created to worship and to be His servant.

Q8: What is the duty of the people?

A8: Live life according the obligation of Allah (swt) and the instruction given by Prophet Mohammad (PBOH).

Q9: Since when are you a muslim?

A9: Sinds “Qalu Billah” we are muslims, Alhumdulliah

Q10: What does “Qalu Billah” mean?

A10: Before the Great and Holy Allah (swt) created the universe, he created the souls of all people. He then called them to Himself and He asked them:

‘’ Alastu Birabbikum’’ (Am I not your God?)

And the souls promised: ‘’Qalu Billah’’ (Yes, You are our God, we only listen to you and will ask only You for help). The period in which this took place is called the ‘’ Qalu Billah”

Q11: What does ‘’ Alhumdulliah’’ mean?

A11: All praise is to Allah (SWT)

Q12: How can we thank Allah (SWT) for all the living that we continuously get from him (eyes, minds, bodies, noses, understood, hands, feet, food and drink)?

Q13: What do you say when you start to eat or drink something?

A13: Then I say Bismillaahhir rahmaanir rahiem

Q14: Where is Allah (swt)?

A14: Allah (swt) is alway everywhere.

Q15: What is your faith?

A15: My faith is Islaam.

Q16: How do you enter Islaam?

A16: By saying the faith testimonies of the Tawheed and the Shahada, you will enter Islam

A17: My Holy Book is the Holy Quraan

Q18: What is your Qiblah (the direction of prayer)?

A18: The Ka’Bah

Q19: What and where is you origin?

A19: My origin lies in the people/descendants of Prophet Adam (PBOH)

Q20: Who is your Prophet?

A20: My Prophet is Mohammad (PBOH)

The Blessings Of Bismillah

As muslims, one of the first things we often learn is Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim. Following the practice of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) and his Household (Ahlul Bayt), Muslims begin with the name of Allah before doing anything.

The most important and biggest example is the fact that Bismillah occurs at the head of every chapter (surah) in the Holy Qur'an, with the exception of the 9th chapter, Surah al-Baraa'at (also called Surah al-Tawbah).

The Arabic way of writing Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim:

The Meaning of Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim:

  "In the name of God, most Gracious, most Compassionate".

The importance and virtues of Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim:

The Devil:

“ I fallowed a child that was on it’s way to home. When the child opened the door of his house, he did not say “Bismillah”! This meant that I could enter the house with the child.

When the child started to eat his supper, he did not say ‘’Bismillah’’ This meant that I could eat a long with the child, because again he did not mention the name of Allah (swt)! I am so happy!!!’’

The child was not paying attentions to his actions and did not mention the name of Allah (swt) when he entered the house. This way the devil got the opportunity to enter the house and eat a long.

The Devil:

“The next day I fallowed another child that was on it’s way to home. When the child reached the door of his house and reached to open it he said “Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim” OH NO!! I could not enter the house any more, because the house because a prohibited area for me!

Then the child sat down for supper and he again said “Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim” before starting his supper! OH NO!! Now I can not eat a long with him!’’

Because the child was attentive of his actions and had made a habit of saying “Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim”  before everything he did, he did not give the devil a chance of participating in any of his actions. This way what ever he did was blessed by Allah (swt) and he was protected from the harms of the devil.

As a Muslim it is very essential then we start our every new action with ‘’ Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim’’ This way we will make sure that the devil does not get the chance to participate and join or actions.

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim

Allah is the first thing I say,

And full of faith I say,

Every night when I go to bed and

Every morning when I wake up:

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim.

When eating and when drinking,

When opening my book,

When doing my job or homework,

When I start to do anything new,

I say: Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim.

When I say Bismillah,

And focus towards Allah,

I focus towards my Lord,

Then my heart gets stronger,

And I know what to say,

Because it is Allah (swt) who is holding my hand!

So make it a habit of saying Bismillah, before starting anything so that Allah (swt) blesses your action and helps you accomplish things in life!
